The WAMOA Sponsorship Program

WAMOA Sponsorship Program

The Sponsorship Program was created as a means of assisting WAMOA Members and potential members in achieving greater professional expertise when funding is not available through their school district or other means.

The sponsorship selection committee is responsible for review of applications, and distribution and award of budgeted sponsorship funds in accordance with program guidelines and in a manner their collective judgment deems most supportive of the applicant, the organization, and it’s stated mission.  The committee may elect to award as many or as few scholarships as they determine to be appropriate based on review of current applications and/or funding availability.

There are two types of eligibility.  The first is to be an active WAMOA member in good standing.  The second is to be a non-WAMOA Member with an interest in the organization and potential for obtaining membership status.  Applications may be submitted by WAMOA Members and Non-Members, or a school district superintendent (or his/her designee) on behalf of a current WAMOA member.

WAMOA Member previous recipients are eligible to apply again.  There are two pools of eligibility for WAMOA Members.  One for new applicants, the other for repeat applicants.  First time applicants receive priority consideration.  Non-Members who have previously received sponsorship funding are not eligible to submit additional application(s) for funding support.  Members of the sponsorship committee are not eligible.  Applicants will be evaluated based upon the following criteria: The number of applicants, past funding received, available monies, timeliness, and membership status.  Active participation in the WAMOA organization will also be a consideration.  Regional and annual meeting attendance and involvement may be considered.  Additional consideration will be given to applicants from districts who have financial problems such as multiple levy failures or districts that can not adequately support their M&O staff.

Individuals wishing to make application for WAMOA sponsorship should submit an application form (and any supporting documentation they choose) to the committee enough in advance of event attendance to permit committee review.  Applicants will be notified in writing immediately upon review of their application materials and the committee’s arrival at a decision.

If you wish to apply for sponsorship or financial assistance to attend a WAMOA sanctioned event, fill out the application form and mail or FAX it to the address below.  If you have questions, call Ernie Elton, WAMOA Programs Committee Chair, at: (253) 583-5480.
